Health Disclaimer
& Waiver
Last updated: [DATE]
Template — not legal or medical advice. Under Irish law you generally cannot exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, so the wording of any waiver must be finalised by a solicitor. Replace every [bracketed] field.
Nothing on this page is medical advice. Before starting any training programme — with Iron Miles or anyone else — consult your GP or a qualified health professional, especially if you have an existing condition, injury, or any doubt about your health.
1. Important notice
Iron Miles provides fitness coaching, training programmes and group sessions. We are not doctors, and nothing we provide is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult a qualified medical professional before starting any new exercise programme, and stop and seek help if you feel unwell.
2. Pre-participation questionnaire (PAR-Q)
Before your first session, please answer the following. If you answer yes to any, talk to your doctor and get clearance before taking part.
- Has a doctor ever said you have a heart condition, or that you should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor?
- Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?
- In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity?
- Do you lose your balance from dizziness, or do you ever lose consciousness?
- Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by exercise?
- Is a doctor currently prescribing medication for blood pressure or a heart condition?
- Are you pregnant, recently post-partum, or aware of any other reason you should not do physical activity?
3. Medical clearance
By taking part, you confirm that you are in good general health, have answered the questions above honestly, and have obtained medical clearance where needed. You agree to tell us promptly about any change to your health, injuries, pregnancy, or medication.
4. Assumption of risk
You understand that physical training — including running, strength and conditioning, open-water swimming and group sessions — involves inherent risks, including muscle strains, sprains, falls, and in rare cases more serious injury. You take part voluntarily and accept these inherent risks.
5. Your acknowledgement
- You are participating of your own free will and at a level you choose.
- You will follow safety instructions and work within your own limits.
- You will stop and seek medical help if you experience pain, dizziness, or distress.
- You are responsible for your own suitable clothing, footwear and hydration.
6. Waiver and release
To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, you agree that [Iron Miles legal/business name], its coaches and volunteers are not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from the ordinary risks of participation that you have accepted above. This does not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. [Final wording and enforceability to be confirmed by a solicitor.]
7. Emergency contact & consent to treatment
Please provide an emergency contact before your first session. In a medical emergency where you cannot consent, you authorise us to seek appropriate medical assistance on your behalf.
